Mathematics – Interdisciplinary Workshop

A workshop was held on 27^th April 2019 at Govt. Post Graduate Islamia College for Women Lahore Cantt. It was specifically arranged for the enhancement of professional competency of the college faculty. The department of mathematics had arranged today’s session under the theme of “Maths as a universal language, Application of mathematical tools and their relation with other subjects”. Our worthy principal Ms Nasreen Javed Khan presided the event. Ms Mobeen, head of mathematics department, hosted the workshop.

The programme started with the recitation of the holy verses and naat followed by the national anthem. The workshop officially opened with the welcome speech delivered by Ms Mobeen Shahzadi. She introduced the basic concept of maths, its significance and history. She also engaged the audience in an activity based session. Riddles of reasoning and analytical thinking of the audience.

Ms Sameera related the field of mathematics with other branches of study knowledge different aspects of the subject were discussed to make a bridge between Maths, Humanities and natural sciences. The purpose of the presentation prove the significance of mathematics and its practical implementation in a large variety of real world application. Informative slides and video clips were also displayed that helped the presenters to keep the content concise and effective.

Towards the end, our respected principal expressed her views on the performance of mathematics department and concluded the workshop.
