History and Philosophy – Interdisciplinary Workshop
A workshop was held on 2nd May, 2019 at Govt. Post Graduate Islamia College for Women Lahore Cantt. It was a combined effort by the departments of History and Philosophy. It was another outstanding attempt among the series of workshop designed for the professional academic uplift of faculty members. Through these workshops, our college aims at promoting broader and deeper awareness among the teachers to have basic information of different fields and disciplines apart of their own area of specialization, our respected principal Prof Nasreen Javed Khan graced the event with her presence.
The workshop commenced with the recitation of the Holy verses and naat followed by the national anthem. It was a well-organized event arranged with the aim of presenting updated knowledge and skills related to the fields of history and psychology.
The workshop was divided in two sessions. The first session was conducted by the department of history headed by Mrs Shamsa. She presented an informative lecture on the significance of the subject of history. She related the ideology of Pakistan and the history of Pakistan in an impressive way. She traced out many prominent founders of Pakistan and the Islamic scholars of the subcontinent. She also mentioned the relation of history with the other existing subjects and fields of life.
The second session was conducted by the department of Philosophy. Mrs Shazia Zahid and Mrs Numera described the importance of philosophy as a subject and its relation with other subjects. The term philosophy and the scope of philosophy, were very well presented through information slides.
At the end, our worthy principal appreciated the both departments for such a successful demonstration encouraged the participants and concluded the workshop.
