The academic institution is not a paradise but learning is a process through which paradise can be created. The classroom with all its limitations remains a location of possibility. It’s a place where we transcend our limits to build our strength.
Govt. Islamia Graduate College for Women Lahore Cantt was established as a private college in 1959 under Anjuman Islamia and it became a govt college in 1972. Our college progressed gradually under the Govt of Punjab Department of Education.
The College is affiliated with Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore and Punjab University. It offers FA, FSC, General Science, ICS, I.com, B.com (Second shift), BA, BSC, MA English, and MA Economics. The four years BS honors program would be introduced in near future.
Our principal and teaching staff are working hard and committed to make this college one of the best institutions of Higher Education. More than 25 students have been awarded scholarships from the vice president of the Punjab education endowment fund (PEEF). In the field of sports too, our college won 19 gifts, 5 trophies, and 12 medals in various competitions held in different universities in Lahore in 2018-19 that reflects the untiring efforts of college staff and students.
Our college spreads on 38 canals with 22 departments. It has a multi-purpose hall. There is Wi-Fi availability to connect with the latest computer labs. Two libraries are available with …….old and new books. All latest services are available in the Post Graduate block along with a multimedia facility in the Conference Room. A beautiful mosque and a clean water filtration plant are also available for facilitating students.
Professor Nasreen Javed Khan took charge as Principal on 7th February 2019. Since then, She has been taking great measures to uplift the college. Some of them are following:
